Photography, video and story consent

A genuine choice about identifiable images and stories, separate from receiving support.

Permission and choice

Permission for an identifiable image or story must be requested separately from assistance. Explain what will be recorded, its intended use and where it may appear. Saying no must not affect the support available.

Before publication, the responsible programme or communications lead must record the publication decision and appropriate permission. Material must respect dignity and avoid exposing, embarrassing or reducing a person to their hardship.

Extra care and secure handling

Consider understanding, safety and appropriate consent before recording children or adults at risk. Review names, locations, clothing, backgrounds and other details that could identify or place someone at risk. Escalate uncertainty to the safeguarding lead.

Keep source files and permission records securely and limit publication to authorised people. Do not combine applicant form answers with a public story without a separate, informed publication decision.

Questions or withdrawing permission

Call +44 7360 093019 and ask about media permission. Identify the material or link and explain a safe way to reply. Lisa Mutinhiri coordinates privacy concerns, with safeguarding matters referred to Jato Joseph.

You can withdraw permission for future use without affecting assistance. We will review material under our control and explain what action is possible. Withdrawal does not undo earlier lawful use, and material already copied or shared by other people may not be fully recoverable.
